Asha specialises in private skin swabs to assess bacterial overgrowths of the skin such as Staph.
These bacteria can mimic acne, but are usually unresponsive to 'acne treatments' like skincare, diet changes and in-clinic skin treatments.
Signs of an overgrowth:
came on suddenly (usually 1-2 'spots' that spread quickly)
usually start under the nose or around the nose (perioral dermatitis is a good example)
looks like a rash, small pimples that might form a whitehead or ooze yellow
quality skincare can make it worse or more aggravated
can be itchy, sting, burn and be hot (but not always)
feel like you've "tried everything"
diagnosis of rosacea, but it doesn't feel right (quick onset)
Please note that skin swabs take around 3.5 weeks to culture and get results.
Some overgrowths are transmissible, so if you are a referring skin clinic or seeing a skin clinic - you may have to stop clinical treatments for 6-8 weeks whilst we eradicate. This is highly specialised work, and may also require internal investigations as skin is a 'whole body problem'.
Asha is the only practitioner on the team who can do swabs
Your skin is a very clear communicator. Not only do we need to correct your skin from the 'inside out', we simultaneously support the external skin environment, specifically overgrowths, to enhance treatment outcomes
